The Montana Housing Coalition advocates for a coherent state housing policy that creates homes that working families, seniors, and Montanans with disabilities can afford to rent or buy. The coalition envisions playing a central role in creating housing and community development that produces desirable, healthy, thriving and affordable communities.
Montana is blessed with many committed organizations, agencies and community leaders who recognize the importance of housing to our quality of life and to our economy. They have worked hard over the years to stretch available resources to meet the needs of our citizens. We honor their work and their commitment.
But all of us need to do more. We must work together to use our collective knowledge and experience to not only raise awareness of the housing challenges across the state, but also to be part of crafting the solutions.
The Montana Housing Coalition already has a track record of advancing legislation to provide state funding for housing with the support of a broad range of interests. With your support we will build on that foundation, using the growing momentum around the need for more housing options in our communities. More education and outreach will be made in the coming months, including contact with elected officials and opinion leaders. The Montana Housing Coalition will also champion legislative proposals that flow from a coherent housing policy. Together we can build a “housing culture” in Montana that will sustain itself in the long term.
Who’s steering the ship?
The Montana Housing Coalition is guided by a Steering Committee made up of members with knowledge and expertise in housing and who understand the legislative process.
You are invited to join the Montana Housing Coalition
We want to build support for a “Montana-made housing policy” from as broad a range of interests as possible. As a member, you’ll be kept up-to-date on legislative issues as well as invited to attend meetings or briefings in your area.
